Privacy policy
No account. No ads. No document-upload service.
Markdown rendering, code highlighting, math and diagrams run locally. MarkCove has no account, advertising, analytics or document-upload service.
Your documents, unchanged
MarkCove never edits or saves over your original file. To change a document, open it in a separate text editor. Reading preferences and folder permissions are the only information MarkCove saves.
On your device
MarkCove saves reading preferences and permission bookmarks on your device. On Mac, reading preferences are shared with the Quick Look extension. Folder access granted in Quick Look belongs to the current preview-service session; macOS may ask again after that service restarts. Clearing folder permissions in Settings takes effect in Quick Look the next time it prepares a preview. Already displayed content may remain in memory until the preview closes, and access to an open document may last while it is open. The operating system may retain recent-document entries, window state and diagnostics according to your system settings.
On macOS, Quick Look folder access lasts for the current preview session and may need to be granted again. The app remembers its own folder permissions. Use Allow a Folder inside the preview.
Local images and linked files in those folders may stop loading. Your files will not be changed or deleted.
Images, links and file providers
Remote images are blocked by default. If you enable them, the image host can receive your IP address and ordinary network request information. Opening an external link also leaves MarkCove. Your Files provider may independently use the network to retrieve a document.
Links to websites and email open in your usual apps. Linked Markdown documents open in MarkCove when the file is accessible. The sample has no folder of its own, so local file links are not available there.
This website and support email
This website is hosted by GitHub Pages. GitHub may process ordinary access information, including your IP address, to serve and secure the site. This site adds no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. If you email support, your email address, message and any attachments are received to respond to your request. Do not send sensitive documents. MarkCove has no remote user account or document database to delete.
